The Morris family and Carlyn Ray Designs began our friendship with a simple blue bowl. Before we knew it, we created two beautiful chandeliers to accentuate their home on Lake Austin.
The Morris family and I started with a simple blue bowl on top of the piano.
After talking with Mrs. Morris about her desire to have a chandelier above her stairway and dining room table, our creative wheels began to turn!
Carlyn Ray Designs developed two solutions that the Morris family approved for production we named them “Heron” and “Boughs of Light”. This breathtaking chandelier is one of my personal favorites. “Heron” emits life perched above the staircase.
I enjoy how the spiral of the staircase continues to wind around the piece.
“Heron” is a stainless steel frame with white glass woven from top to bottom in a spiraling movement.
This chandelier developed into a cocoon or a glowing white nest –like shape emitting these wonderful shadows on the ceiling and surrounding walls.
The glass is actually a mixture of white, clear, and opal colors and the flat and round rods create this twig/ feathery organic mass.
Our second inspiration “Boughs of Light” was inspired by the immediate natural surroundings.
The Morris Family lives on Lake Austin and has a majestic backyard with a fabulous view of the lake.
The main view from the kitchen and entryway looks directly through the trees out to the water. The emphasis of this chandelier was to make a seamless connection to the lake outside and bring the gentle motion of the waves inside.
